Michele Toppe, Ed.D., has worked in higher education for over 30 years and has been at Portland State University since 1995. While at PSU, Michele created resource centers for veterans and students with children, installed and overseen the residence life program, advised student government and fee committee, planned major events such as New and Transfer Orientation, commencement and Party in the Park and managed numerous complex student issues, including student conduct, academic appeals, and student crises. As Vice Provost for Student Affairs in OAA, she oversees Student Affairs, which includes the Center for Student Health and Counseling, University Housing and Residence Life, and the Office of the Dean of Student Life (DOSL). DOSL includes a portfolio of campus life programs, including Student Activities and Leadership Programs, Queer Student Services, Services for Students with Children, Women's Resource Center, Student Conduct, and the C.A.R.E. team, PSU's behavioral intervention, and crisis response. Michele completed her doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania in Higher Education Management in the spring of 2017.
